At The Green Furniture Company (Gurniture) we make fantastic looking durable environmentally friendly furniture, with the least impact on the eco system as possible. All of our green furniture pieces are made from reclaimed or carefully sourced timber and treated with the highest quality, non-toxic, ecologically sound finishes. Over the years we have taken on many different commissions from entire pubs to childrens furniture, and always keep a range of stock from kitchen tables to cd racks at our workshop.
Reclaimed wood is a particularly suitable material for thick shelving and worktops as it has completed all the warping required to be truly seasoned (sometimes for up to 200 years). It also has the advantage over new timber in that the natural shades and blemishes have been accentuated over the years. In places rust penetrates the wood surface in stricking contrast to the rich hues of the aged surface, whilst elsewhere the wood can be lightened by the lime in ancient plaster.
